Torpedo AFC 2006

Torpedo play in the Bristol Downs League and run three sides who play in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd divisions. We were formed in 1966 as Park Street Wanderers. It was decided that the club would adopt a new name and as Torpedo Moscow were doing well in Europe, the name became Torpedo.

2006/7 was our most succesful season ever, winning the Div 2 title (by 11 points), the Reserves won the All Saints Cup and the A's won the Div 4 title. We also won the Cotswool Cup for the team in all 4 divisions with the best goal average - ours was +70 .

The 2007/8 season saw Torpedo win the Bristol Downs League Division 1 title for the first time in the their history. The First team won the league by a massive 12 points, only 12 months after winning Division 2 by 11 points.

All Saints Cup Final

Congratulations to the Torpedo Reserve team who got to the All Saints cup final for the second consecutive season. Unfortunately they had to settle for runners up this time largely (well actually entirely) due to the Berbatov lookalike playing up front for Sporting Greyhound Reserves, who was awesome. Torpedo dominated possession througout, however didn't manage to create many clear cut opportunities, and were punished by some superb finishing from the Sporting number 9. Final score, Torpedo Res 1 - 2 Sporting Greyhound Res.

Champions

Congratulations to the Torpedo First Team who have won the Downs League first division!! This is the first time in the clubs history to win the first division and they have won it by a massive 12 points, which is incredible. This is even more incredible as they were relegated two years ago, and have bounced back with winning the second division and first division titles back to back, a feat that is a first in the history of the downs league.
